Villainous lawyer Ingrid Block

Ingrid Block (Lena Olin) is the hidden villainess from "Confidential," episode 11.15 of Law & Order: SVU (airdate March 10, 2010). She is the attorney for billionaire Richard Morgan, who was running a Ponzi scheme and had also committed two murders. The first was committed 22 years prior to the episode's events; a woman named Renee Simmons, killed by Morgan when he strangled her with a karate belt. After the murder, Ingrid and Morgan successfully framed Daniel Hardy, Renee's boyfriend and a janitor working in Morgan's building, for the murder. Ingrid's evil actions led to Hardy serving 22 years in prison.

After another woman, Nancy Pierce, was found dead and killed by the same way, Ingrid suspected that Morgan had killed her as well as Simmons and confronted him. Morgan indirectly admitted to the killings, leaving Ingrid to fear for her safety. While Morgan was brought in by Benson and Stabler, Thomas Rooney, a victim of Morgan's Ponzi scheme, shot and killed Morgan while he was in the elevator. With Morgan dead, Ingrid revealed that she hid the truth about Simmons' murder for all those years due to lawyer-client confidentiality, and then handed over Morgan's box of karate belts as evidence. With this, Hardy was freed with an expunged record, but after that, Stabler arrested Ingrid and charged her with facilitating a murder.

In the trial, Ingrid (who represented herself) stated that the box of belts suddenly disappeared from the office, and ironically, Hardy later testified that he took the box and gave it to Morgan--shortly before Hardy's arrest. Hardy's testimony leads to a not guilty verdict for Ingrid, and after the trial, Ingrid reveals that she will defend Rooney in court. However, at episode's end, it was revealed that Ingrid had phoned Rooney and told him where Morgan would be, establishing herself as the mastermind behind Morgan's murder. This was done with Ingrid knowing that nothing could be done about it, and at the final scene, Ingrid stated that she is aware of the system's faults, but she made sure justice was served this time.
