Karla Jane Gardner (Myndy Crist) is the main villainess from "Identity," episode 3.15 of CSI: Miami (airdate February 14, 2005). She is the ex-wife of Phillip Gardner.
Karla first appeared to Ryan Wolfe at the crime lab regarding her purse and her identity were stolen. This was actually the second woman who Wolfe encountered that was named Karla Gardner, as earlier in the episode, a blonde woman introduced herself by that same name and made the exact same claims. Suspecting something amiss, Wolfe and Calleigh Duquesne decided to inspect both women, and with the use of a fluoroscope, the second Karla is identified as the real Karla, as she broke her arm and a leg in an accident five years prior to the events.
When Phillip is found murdered, with a nail file in his eye, suspicion fell on the fake Karla, whose real name was revealed as Eve Martinkus. This was after a blond hair was found on the body, but the fact that a single hair was found drew suspiction from Wolfe and Calleigh. Adhesive found on the car seat ended up revealing that the real Karla killed her ex-husband, and the entire scheme was revealed during her interrogation. As revealed earlier, Karla was paying alimony to Phillip when her identity was stolen by Eve, and it was at that moment that Karla decided to solve both of her problems in a villainous manner. After getting the nail file and some of Eve's hair, Karla met with Phillip to pay him, only to take the file and stab him in his eye, killing him. The villainess later planted the hair on her deceased ex-husband's body, doing so to frame Eve.
During her interrogation, the evil Karla confessed to the murder, stating that it was Eve's dumpster diving during her thefts that served as a lesson for the scheme to frame her. Following her confession, Karla was arrested for Phillip's murder, and she gave a glance at Eve as she was being taken into custody for her own crimes.
