Jessica Cowley (Natalie Brown) is a hidden villainess from "High School Confidential", episode 3.07 of Republic of Doyle (airdate February 22, 2012). She was a former classmate of Jake Doyle and Walter McClean and the wife of Clyde Cowley, who was also classmates with Jake and Walter and a frequent bully of the two.
Prior to the events of the episode, however, Jessica conspired with banker Jeff Vallis in a ploy he had implemented to profit off of a recent oil discovery, with Jeff having been buying all the land around the discovery area. In exchange for a cut of the profits, the evil Jessica agreed to make it to where Clyde couldn't be able to pay off the mortgage for their home and allow for Jeff to foreclose; doing so by spending inordinate amounts of money.
Soon afterwards, Jessica informed Clyde that she wanted a divorce, leading Clyde into a spiraling depression to where he hired Jake to find out the truth behind Jeff's involvement with Jessica and the reason for his premature foreclosure on his and Jessica's house. Over the course of Jake's investigation, Jessica frequently berated Clyde's attempts to win her back, while also referring to Jake as a "creep" and condescending to him for his crush on her in high school. Jessica also began a relationship with Walter, who she had hired as her divorce lawyer.
In the episode's climax, Jake prevented Clyde from attacking Jeff at his bank before (inadvertently) taking Jeff and the rest of the bank hostage, eventually using the accidental hostage situation to get the truth out of Jeff. Jeff ultimately confessed to his oil scam as well as Jessica's collusion in the scheme, much to Clyde's heartbreak. The episode's climax saw Jake, Clyde, and Jake's father Malachy rescuing Jessica from Liam "Chili" Power, a loan shark that believed Clyde owed him money, only for Clyde to immediately afterwards attempt to shoot himself. Jessica eventually decided (somewhat reluctantly) to talk Clyde down, claiming that while there was no chance she would take him back, she had never meant to hurt him. Clyde eventually gave the gun up to Jake and Jake was arrested along with Liam, though Jessica's fate was left unknown.
