Betsy Firth (Stephanie Erb) is the main villainess from "Ruddy Cheeks," episode 4.18 of The Mentalist (airdate March 9, 2012). She is the Nurse Administrator at the Scheck Cancer Institute.
As revealed later on, Betsy had been taking monetary bribes from her patients, in exchange for their participation in the drug trials. One such patient was wealthy Archer Braddock, who was on borrowed time due to having Stage 4 bone cancer. Betsy later learned that Archer had a damaged liver due to his alcoholism, and the drug she instilled was actually making his health worse, as it was killing him faster than the cancer.
A post-mortem would lead to an investigation that could uncover Betsy's corrupt activities, and realizing that her career was in jeopardy, Betsy got to Archer first. The villainess shocked Archer with a stun gun and later suffocated him to death; after which, she buried the body. Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon found Archer's body, which was taken to the morgue for an autopsy to be performed later. In the episode's climax, however, the evil Betsy stole Archer's body and was in the midst of burning it, only to be caught by Lisbon and Jane. Betsy was taken to CBI, where she confessed to taking bribes and to killing Archer, stating that she ended Archer's suffering and that he was going to die anyway. Following her confession, Betsy was arrested (off-screen).
